If you have asthma, you will be only too aware of how stress and tension worsen your symptoms. Fear of an attack happening, or experiencing fear at the onset of an attack, exacerbates the symptoms, and the more you experience the discomfort of the symptoms, the more your unconscious mind is programmed to fear it happening again. This fear can impact on every aspect of an asthmatic's life, from that regular fear of running out of Ventolin on a Saturday night before a bank holiday weekend to going on holiday and leaving it behind altogether. What hypnotherapycan do is help to take away the fear and anxiety response to an asthma attack, whenever and wherever it happens, with the aim of reducing or preventing an escalation of the symptoms. Some people, especially those will milder symptoms, can find that their symptoms diminish significantly, but hypnotherapy does not promise any cure and the aim of treatment is to give you back control over your asthma and, more importantly, gain control over the fear, to stop it from taking over your life.
Please note, hypnotherapy does not cure asthma and you should never reduce or stop taking any medications without your GPs consent
